Wool Pants Pillow

What are you going to make this weekend? Maybe … a Wool Pants Pillow pieced together from old pants!?!

Cut off the legs of wool pants, open one seam, and make a 16 inch square. Then use other pant leg and cut rectangles and squares and sew them together quilt-style into another 16 inch square.

Sew the front and back together leaving an opening for the pillow insert. Turn right side out. I used a pre-fab pillow insert that I had left over from another project. Then pin and sew opening closed.

I’ve recently moved cross country and have been roughing it, but it can be a lot of fun. Parameters and limited supplies can be a great way to challenge you to see the potential in what you’ve got on hand.

And, in fact, a good set of parameters are the impetus that drives truly great design. Giving yourself some unique limitations in addition to a client’s requirements are oftentimes an effective way to get past a creative mental block.

Pictured here we have the solution to my need for a spice rack. I upcycled two wooden clementine crates to hang as spice racks above our oven.
