Homemade book press!
- Scrap wood
- 4” carriage bolts 5/16th size ($2.69 on Amazon for 50)
- Wing nuts 5/16th size ($1.30 at a local store for four)
- Four washers (Had them around, they’re cheap though)
Measure where the holes go. I did 1” in from the edges.
Drill the holes with the bit one size larger than 5/16”. I’d prefer one more size larger but my husband insists that the holes will be too loose. I keep saying I need them loose for purposes of this board sliding freely.
He’s not understanding the real reason for this project exactly. He doesn’t get that the boards need to move freely and that the washers are there for a reason. It’s okay though.
Tomorrow I’ll make them a teensy bit larger because they’re not working smoothly. He says “Grease the holes!” Um no dude. So yes, that’s just my advice, yours may not need larger holes.
BAM! Bookpress. That book in there is not being worked on. It’s just in as an example. That book is done and already being sketched in. It’s my adventure sketchbook that I’m adding to daily so far. :)
edit to add: That’s the hot water bottle cover I sewed up this week!
